Bela Krajina and its towns through history

The Middle Ages have always been a special part of our world’s history. They were a time of knights and castles, great conquests and flourishing towns. Many of them still stand today – but how did they originate in the first place?

Today, not much is left to see, only imagine. But since we can rely on written sources, paintings, copperplate and lithography art, we can recreate the image of settlements as they once were.

The Bela krajina region has three major towns that have always served as defensive strongholds due to their location along the border. We animated a series of videos about the history of medieval towns in Bela Krajina.
